I’m happy to report that we’ve found a DJ that we like and have signed a contract with him. Kevin Ramaley owns DJ Rockin’ Ramaley. We met with him last week and really liked him and his company. He seemed pretty flexible and willing to accommodate some of our more unusual requests (like incorporating some “Basement Bhangra” in the mix). The clincher, though, was that he comes with a bridal assistant. This is someone to help keep things organized, remind us when to do the cake cutting, help bustle my gown, etc. I REALLY liked this idea since we’re not using a wedding planner. Yesterday we went to the Lehigh Valley Bridal Expo and signed the contract. It’s nice to have that piece of things taken care of!
Flowers & changes to this blog March 9, 2008
Pete and I had a good meeting with the florist at Dan Schantz Greenhouse on Saturday. They are a local grower/florist in the Lehigh Valley. Pete and I are in a little bit of a strange position with our decorations. Richland Friends Meeting, in Quaker form, is very simple and plain. There are no decorations. McCoole’s Arts and Events place is fully decorated, complete with color on the walls. We have decided to keep the flowers simple so as to respect the simplicity of the meetinghouse and not to compete with the decor at McCoole’s. We’re thinking potted mums – festive for fall and can do double duty as decorations in the meetinghouse & centerpieces at the reception. I know that Dan Schantz’ grows a lot of mums so I figured that might be a good place to start. Turns out that they do flower arranging as well. Since we’re really only going to need bouquets for me and Jenny and flowers for the mothers, it seemed to make sense to do it all in one place. Best of all, it seems like we’re going to get something we like for under $200. Nice!
On another note, I spent sometime playing around with this blog on Friday night and figured out how to add in pictures AND some music. It was kind of fun figuring it out and picking the music. If you linger here long enough (or fast forward through some of the songs) you’ll get to a really cool Indian wedding song. Enjoy!
